Last week the award to Luka Koper as the best supply chain provider for materials was given to Mr. Dragomir Matić, President of the Mangement Board of Luka Koper, by Mr. Wolfgang Mitterdorfer, Member of the Mangement Board of Voestalpine, Steel Division. Our competitors in the selection were the Dutch Port of Rotterdam and the Romanian Port of Costanza, through which the raw materials for plants of the large Austrian steel producer are also conveyed. In that occasion, the President of the Management Board Mr. Matić said: »Luka Koper and Voestalpine have a long history of cooperation behind them. Jointly with the growth of the throughput and the technological modernization, also our partnership, mutual respect and trust were consolidated.«
We have been cooperating with Voestalpine already thirty years. In the beginning only as the supply port for raw materials and energy products, the last years an incraesing quantity of their products such as rails, plates, tubes, profiles and other specialized steel products have been transported through our port to the overseas countries. Lastly, Voestalpine supplied three shore cranes and the stacker-reclaimer. Furthermore, the cooperation with Voestalpine has been upgraded through the cargo handling technology. Jointly we have developed several innovations and exchanged experiences. The result of a joint solution was the adapted stuffing of containers with various steel products. Many innovative technologies were introduced also in the field of the environmental protection.
Voestalpine is one of leading steel product producers with headquarters in Linz, Austria. Within Voestalpine Group are operating 500 companies, located in 50 countries worldwide. Yearly, it generates over 11 miliard euros of revenues and has approxiamately 48,000 employees. Car plants, manufacturers of the consumers goods, oil, gas, building and aeronautics industry are supplied with Voestalpine products.
