Luka Rijeka dd : First train from private operator Train Hungary Branch office Zagreb with commodity in Port of Rijeka

During 26^thOctober, 2015, a private railway operator Train Hungary Branch office Zagreb has delivered the first quantity of cargo to Port of Rijeka. Thanks to the liberalization of Croatian market in railway transportation of cargo, Train Hungary Branch office Zagreb has transported part of total quantity about 20.000 tons of sugar beet cuts, intended for stuffing containers and export through Port of Rijeka for the market of Far East.

Legislative framework of the Republic of Croatian accession to the EU, enabled the liberalization of the market for rail freight transport and entry of private operators. A larger number of private rail operators in transport of goods brings more competition, more efficient and a better flow of cargo in the land transportation of Rijeka traffic route, what makes the whole transport route more competitive and consequently offers a possibility for acquisition new volumes of cargo and increasing of turnover of the Port of Rijeka.
