Hospital da Luz Lisboa Organizes First Course on Anatomical Pathology

15-09-17

Hospital da Luz Lisboa organizes, October 9 and 10, the first edition of the course of anatomical pathology, Lisbon Pathology Update.

Dedicated to thoracic pathology, the course is directed by Ana Catarino (coordinator Anatomical Pathology Service of Hospital da Luz), Cesar Moran (diretor of the thoracic pathology area of the department of anatomical pathology from MD Anderson Cancer Centre, USA) and Filomena Medeiros (cardiothoracic histopathology consultant from Basildon University Hospital, United Kingdom).

'This is a theoretical-practical course for interns training in anatomical pathology, and also for specialists. Our intent is to propose it every year, approaching different themes', explains Ana Catarino.

In this edition, the program includes the most recent questions in the area and less frequent pathologies: lung cancer early diagnosis and treatment, sarcomatoid carcinoma of the lung, neuroendocrine tumors of the lung, and thymic neoplasms.

In each session, clinical cases will be presented and, in the end, the participants will be invited to answer to a series of questions on the approached topics, for self-evaluation.
