Innovating Lung Cancer Treatment Presented in Copenhagen

Sónia Rego, Hospital da Luz Arrábida oncologist, presented in a meeting of European specialists in Copenhagen, on November 9, the experience of this unit in innovating lung cancer treatment.

The meeting, organized by the renowned Danish oncologist Anders Mellemgaard (Oncology Department of Herlev University Hospital), had the purpose to share the most recent knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of lung tumors.

Over 40 specialists were present, from several Nordic countries and, for the first time, a Portuguese speaker invited.

In her intervention, entitled 'Change in the paradigms of treatment' (Mudança nos paradigmas de tratamento), Sónia Rego explained the innovating approach applied at Hospital da Luz Arrábida to patients with lung cancer, resorting to new drugs, which raised interest among oncologists, considering the encouraging results obtained.
