JOINT MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE ON DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN LYNAS AND THE NEIB ABORIGINAL CORPORATION IN THE WA GOLDFIELDS

Lynas Corporation (ASX:LYC, OTC:LYSDY) and the North East Independent Body (NEIB) Aboriginal Corporation are pleased to provide an update on their discussions in relation to the Mt Weld tenements.
The NEIB Aboriginal Corporation is a representative body for the local Wongatha People from the Wongatha region, which comprises a large portion of the Goldfields district of Western Australia.
The parties have already jointly participated in community programs at Mt Weld. The tenements at Mt Weld were granted in 1984 and 1991 and Lynas has since worked constructively and collaboratively with the Wongatha people on community issues. Both parties are interested in expanding their joint initiatives and co-operation on issues including management of Aboriginal heritage sites and shared value programs. The aim of the parties is to finalise an agreement in relation to these issues later in 2014.
Lynas chairman Nicholas Curtis said: "At Lynas, we recognise the importance of our relationships with all the communities where we operate. We respect the values and cultural heritage of local communities and we look forward to supporting initiatives that create sustainable improvements for the Wongatha people."
Senior Wongatha Elder and NEIB director Aubrey Lynch said: "Our relationship with Lynas has been characterised by openness and mutual respect. Lynas is a good role model for resources companies dealing with us Wongatha Traditional Owners. The NEIB encourages other mining companies to adopt the same approach and there are strong business advantages in working closely with us under the umbrella of a fair and reasonable agreement. We look forward to reaching an agreement with Lynas".
