SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 26, 2016) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Industrial Info is tracking $3.79 billion of industrial capital and maintenance projects that are planned to kick off in the Chicagoland area from May 2016 through April 2017. Within the 14-county Chicago-Naperville-Elgin Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), passenger and freight rail projects are helping put the Industrial Manufacturing Industry in the top position for both the value and number of projects planned to kick off during this time. In terms of combined project value, this is followed by the Chemical Processing and Food & Beverage industries.

One of the largest projects is Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line commuter rail extension, which is planned to kick off in late 2016 or early 2017. The $240 million project will extend the train line 5.3 miles from 95th Street to 130th Street with three new intermediate stops and a new terminal planned at 130th Street. The project is expected to be completed during the first half of 2018.

Also of note within the Industrial Manufacturing Industry is Ikea North America Services LLC's (Conshohocken, Pennsylvania) construction of a second distribution facility in Joliet, Illinois. The project has an estimated price tag of $80 million and entails the construction of a 1.4 million-square-foot building that will be completed in 2018.

Capital and maintenance projects at LyondellBasell Industries' (NYSE:LYB) (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) ethylene plant in Morris, Illinois help put the Chemical Processing Industry in second position in terms of project value. Capital and maintenance projects planned to kick off at the plant from May to April have a combined total investment value of $219 million.
