Lowell, Massachusetts, April 19, 2017- MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. ('MACOM'), today announced a new family of high-performance, asynchronous, fully non-blocking crosspoint switches to support 4K and 8K ultra high-definition television (UHDTV). As video content evolves beyond high definition, MACOM's family of crosspoints support the bandwidth required to transport these higher resolutions.

MACOM's new MAXP-23008, MAXP-23012 and MAXP-23016 support switch matrix densities of 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16, respectively. The devices operate up to 12.5 Gbps, thereby enabling switching and routing of numerous high resolution video formats, including UHDTV uncompressed serial digital interface (SDI) data rates of 11.88 Gbps, High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) 2.1 lane speeds of 12.0 Gbps and DisplayPort 1.4 lane rates of 8.1 Gbps. This new family of crosspoint switches further rounds out MACOM's extensive portfolio for the most complete offering of 12.5 Gbps crosspoints in the industry.

'The proliferation of UHD video is driving increased data rates for the various display standards, which in turn is driving demand to support switching at these higher rates,' said Mike Fukatsu, Director of Product Marketing, High-Performance Analog, at MACOM. 'By offering a broad portfolio of 12.5 Gbps crosspoint switches, MACOM enables the many applications that route and switch these new high resolution formats.'

MACOM's crosspoint switches include advanced signal conditioning capabilities which allow the devices to compensate for signal losses over extended board traces. The output drivers have adjustable output swing and programmable levels of de-emphasis which allow the user to fully optimize their link for optimum performance. Additionally, MACOM's new crosspoint switches are designed to handle the stress of pathologoical video patterns encountered in SDI video applications.
