Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, principal investment and capital markets arm of Macquarie Group, has appointed Ben Bailey as Head of Telecommunications, Media, Entertainment and Technology (TMET) Europe.

Ben joins Macquarie with over 17 years' experience in TMET, having led the number one ranked internet and digital media investment banking team in EMEA at Jefferies International. During this time he advised on some of the sector's most high-profile transactions including the listing of AO World and Zoopla, three share placings for shareholders of Just Eat, the sale of Scout 24 for Deutsche Telecom and the acquisition
of uSwitch by Zoopla.

Ben is based at Macquarie's London office reporting to Daniel Wong, Head of Macquarie Capital Europe. Ben also reports to Macquarie Capital's Global Head of TMET, Darren Keogh who is based in Sydney.

Daniel Wong, Head of Macquarie Capital Europe, said: 'We are extremely pleased to have Ben join Macquarie. He brings a wealth of experience and senior relationships across the sector. His appointment builds on the significant momentum we have in TMET principal investing and advisory across key markets globally.'

Ben's hire marks Macquarie Capital's third senior appointment to the global TMET team in the past 12 months, as it looks to deepen its advisory capabilities in TMET M&A and capital raising and expand its expertise as a co-investor alongside its clients.

Scott Bruckner was appointed to Macquarie Capital's US TMET team in June 2015 and Larry Handen joined the Principal Transactions Group in late 2014.
