Macquarie announced today that it has worked with Google to make Android Pay available to its credit cardholders in Australia.

Android Pay is the simple and secure way to pay on mobile devices and is available at stores across Australia, wherever contactless payments are accepted.

Ben Perham, Head of Personal Banking for Macquarie's Banking and Financial Services Group, said that from today, Macquarie cardholders will be able to use their Android device to seamlessly make contactless payments on their credit cards.

'With just one tap of their mobile phone, Macquarie credit cardholders can now make secure payments using Google's Android Pay.

'Offering Android Pay is the latest step in Macquarie's approach of supporting innovative digital solutions to make banking simpler and more convenient for our customers,' Mr Perham concluded.

Macquarie will also make Android Pay available to its debit cardholders in coming weeks, part of its real-time deposits offering built over the past two years on Macquarie's new Core Banking platform.

Pali Bhat, Senior Director, Product Management, Google said: 'We're excited to bring the simplicity and security of mobile payments to Macquarie customers with Android Pay. Starting today, people will be able to use their Android device to pay at almost 800,000 contactless payment terminals in Australia.'
