MAGILLEM DESIGN SERVICES
Magillem has been started with a software tool for IP core with IP-XACT, which was explained in the first article in Feb, 2010 when Vincent was in Japan.
Then Magillem has been expanding its covering areas, like IP/PCB, instrument, system, etc. with using meta-data based XML index and its data base management, which was introduced by the second article on Feb 2011 EDSF of Magillem booth and the third article on Nov 2011 EDSF Magillem booth.
According to Pascal, Magillem solution has been implemented by among 15 out of top 20 semiconductor makers. And several years ago, some customers have requested that they wanted to manage not only design data but documents. Currently we have 5 customers who use Magillem document management tool.
There are so many different types of document around design data, like spec, product manuals. It should be a reasonable request which all the documents need to be managed in unified way. But for larger size companies, their design data group and its document group are organized as a different division, so the unified management request may not be so strong. (àthis is an interesting observation. I will clarify this).
On the other hand, the reason why the unified management is needed, should be that safety feature is getting buzz word, like ISO26262, IEC61508, which requires management of design history with its documents.
Pascal mentioned that STMicro was our pioneer user for IP core management, and now they has been using Magillem design data/documents management tool.
