The number of Telekom 4G subscribers exceeded 450 thousand by the end of 2014, while 4G data traffic tripled within one year.

The number of 4G subscribers at Telekom continues to increase dynamically: the registered number of 320 thousand in October exceeded 450 thousand by year end 2014. This is more than 70% increase compared to the end of 2013. Data traffic shows even bigger of an increase, being almost explosion-like: between year end 2013 and 2014 the total data traffic (2G, 3G, 4G) increased by about 25%, and within that 4G data traffic tripled.

The growth of customer count was also expedited by Telekom having increased the 4G outdoor - population based - national coverage from one day to the other in October 2014 to 73%, which since then reached almost 80%. Simultaneously, the company increased the nominal download speeds of the 4G mobile net - depending on the tariff package and the handset - to the available maximum, offering even up to 150 Mbit/s mobile net speeds to customers on the first and largest 4G network of the country.

Using the 4G service also requires 4G enabled terminals, and through the innovations of manufacturers the handset assortment increased substantially in recent years. Customers of Telekom can currently choose from almost 70 4G enabled terminals, including 43 smartphones, 15 tablets, as well as mobile internet sticks and routers. The growing demand for 4G enabled tools is underlined by the ratio of 4G terminals within smartphones sold with subscription in the 2014 Christmas season having reached 90% at the service provider.
