By September over 250 000 customers have decided to join Telekom's 4G mobile internet service, which means the number of the users of the service has grown more than sixfold in just a year.

As a result of network modernizing Telekom's fastest network can be accessed outdoors* in 53.5 per cent of the country with an expected further increase to 80 per cent by 2015 according to the service provider's plans. In the wake of the expansion of the portfolio 7 out of 10 smart phones sold are 4G enabled, and the customers' 4G data usage has quadrupled compared to the same period of last year.

The super fast mobile net has been available in Hungary since January 2012, when Telekom became the first among Hungary's mobile service providers to launch the 4G/LTE- based mobile internet service. At first the modern network was available only in certain districts of Budapest, and at that time it could be used only with a 4G- enabled mobile internet stick.

The fourth generation mobile technology is the most advanced and rapidly developing one among today's mobile networks and compared to other networks enables super fast data transmission solutions to satisfy customers' rapidly increasing data requirements. The 4G mobile internet service ensures a significantly reduced average response time when internet applications are used and its most tangible benefit for users is the downloading speed of up to 60 Mbit/s.**  The result of the same is that web sites are downloaded immediately; videos and even needle sharp full HD films can be viewed online. It also enables videoconferencing even outside the office as both image and voice are lifelike in areas covered by 4G.

Because the data needs of customers are expected to continue to grow, Telekom as a market leader mobile service provider tested, jointly with Ericsson, in Budapest this spring the still seemingly unimaginable download speed of 250 Mbit/s which can be realized with the help of the LTE-Advanced technology.

*Outdoor residential coverage %: on the basis of the  map of distribution according to the registered residential address of the population the number of the inhabitants populating the areas determined by the points considered to be covered outdoors as a percentage of the total population. In the areas concerned the mobile internet service is available outside buildings.

**Speed perceived by the subscriber depends on the availability of a device and tariff package that are sufficiently enabled and support the technology concerned as well as on whether the network or the tariff package supports the speed concerned in the particular area, and on the radio and other usage conditions. The speed the service provider guarantees with the respective technologies is: 0 Mbit/s.
