In addition to the e-bookstore online platform launched in mid-October, now another tool was introduced enabling users to comfortably "consume" thousands of digital books. From today Telekom's service portfolio will include the 'txtr Beagle e-book reader, which is not only available to Telekom customers.

The tool features eye-friendly E-ink display, low energy consumption and simple use, thus being an excellent replacement for paper books. Selected digital contents can be easily uploaded through Bluetooth link, using smartphones or tablets (compatibility: Android 2.2 and up, as well as iOS 7 operational system). The tool itself can store five books at one time, but obviously these can be replaced with new ones any time, without generating data traffic. Creating a user mailbox in the Telekom 'txtr e-book warehouse and connecting smartphone or tablet applications one can establish his own digital bookshelf, while the content stored on the tools can also be updated easily with smartphones or tablets. Beagle features easy and stylish design with the size of a smaller pocket book and operates with 2 AA batteries, with the need for any cable. Through its easy use and transparent menu system it offers an attractive alternative to read books even for people with less digital skills.

The 'txtr Beagle e-book reader can be purchased from December 18 on the Telekom website (www.t-mobile.hu/lakossagi/akciok/akcio/1312_konyvolvaso). By ordering through the internet, it is available for HUF 8,900 with a HUF 0 down payment, on 24 months interest free instalments, packed together with one of the following three smartphones: Samsung Galaxy Young, Sony Xperia M, LG L7 II and with new Telekom mobile subscription, while undertaking two years loyalty commitment for the voice or the mobile internet tariff, or at list price for HUF 17,928 with 10% webshop discount. The product is available in main Telekom shops* from December 18, too, and in all Telekom shops from mid-January. The tool costs HUF 19,920 while gold and platinum customers can buy it with HUF 0 down payment on 12 months HUF 1,660. The product comes with two gift books and a part from the book of Jo Nesbo titled Police. Telekom is the exclusive distributor of 'txtr Beagle.

The e-bookstore of Telekom was launched in partnership with 'txtr (http://hu.txtr.com/), offering one of the richest assortments among the e-book webstores operating in Hungary: visitors can choose from among the almost 900 thousand foreign and more than 3 thousand Hungarian e-books. Books purchased and uploaded in the store are also available in 'txtr applications, enabling users to read in a comfortable way also on mobile tools. More information about the applications: http://hu.txtr.com/devices/ Downloading and using them requires wifi or mobile subscription and generates data traffic, reading the downloaded books though requires no further data usage.

Background information

According to statistics most visitors (33.5%) of Telekom's e-bookstore - launched jointly with txtr - are in age group 25-34, followed by group 18-24 (27.5%), while the share of group 35-44 is only 15.5%. According to the genre split men are more interested in buying e-books: 55% of those visiting the website are men, and only 45% are women. Most people downloading the txtr application use iPad (aside from the e-book reader), but many are reading also using their iPhone or Samsung S3 smartphones. The txtr e-book top list in Hungary is led by the books of Tamás Frei titled The Year of Chaos and War of the Political Elite.
