myMail Leaps to Become Most Popular Alternative Email App for Android and iOS

Mountain View, Calif.- August 13, 2014 - myMail, the app from My.com that manages multiple email accounts, is now the world's most downloaded alternative email app, behind only Gmail and Yahoo Mail. According to data provided by app analytics company Distimo, myMail has flown past popular apps like Mailbox, Cloudmagic, Gusto Email, and K-9 Mail on both Android and iOS.

Launched in November 2013, myMail quickly asserted itself as a prominent player on the email app market. By June of this year, myMail was the top alternative email app on Android. Distimo data sourced from early 2014 shows myMail also leading worldwide iOS downloads.

The latest numbers from June validate the My.com's laser-focus on design, usability, and mobile-centric email. The app has been received favorably in the countries known to have well-developed mobile markets, holding the top position in the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Brazil, Japan, India, Spain, Mexico, Australia and others. myMail has more than twice as many downloads as the next highest email app in many countries, including Brazil, India, France, Spain and Mexico, as well as overall on both iOS and Android.

"The future of email is mobile, and we have worked hard to build an app and client that are ready for this future. To win the top two mobile platforms worldwide so quickly and in such a decisive way proves that we're moving in the right direction. We firmly believe that smartphones and tablets are the preferred platform for email, and we're aiming to deliver the best possible experience for our users and anyone who wants a sophisticated yet simple way to manage their inbox," said Dmitry Grishin, CEO and co-founder of Mail.Ru Group, maker of myMail.

Available on iOS and Android, myMail offers a host of features designed to appeal to both casual and power mobile email users. The app can manage messages in Gmail, Hotmail, Live, Outlook, MSN, iCloud, AOL, Yahoo mail and my.com accounts, and supports all IMAP and POP3-enabled mailboxes.

In April 2014, My.com announced the creation of @my.com, the world's first ever mobile-only email service, accessible through the myMail app. Designed for mobile users from the ground up, the light, intuitive service achieved an industry first in security by omitting passwords altogether to better protect accounts from unauthorized access.
