The Russian Code Cup Is Challenging Programmers Again

The Russian Code Cup 2017, the largest Russian championship in competitive programming, starts on March 19. Again, talented programmers from around the world will compete in accuracy and speed of solving problems for a chance to get a share of the prize fund in the amount of 750,000 rubles.

To participate in the championship, it is necessary to register on the Russian Code Cup website. The competitions will be held online. The preliminary round starts on March 19: participants will have a chance to look at the platform and to try their hand at solving a common problem. This round is optional and its results will not affect the next rounds.

The main program of the Russian Code Cup traditionally consists of three stages: three qualification rounds (on April 2, April 16, and April 29), the elimination round (on May 14) and the final (on September 10). At each stage, the participants will solve from four to eight different tasks. Those who are unlucky in the first qualification round can try their luck in the next ones. The elimination round will include 200 best participants from each qualification and only 50 best programmers will get to the final.

The championship winner will get the main cash prize in the amount of 150,000 rubles. The second and third place contestants will receive 100,000 and 65,000 rubles respectively.

'Last year, the Russian Code Cup officially entered the international level for the first time. Out of 4,500 participants, more than a thousand were English speakers: in the final round, residents of the CIS countries, Germany, Finland, Japan, Switzerland, China, and South Korea fought for the champion's title', says Olga Avgustan, Head of the Educational Direction of Mail.Ru Group. 'The championship is held for the seventh time, and with each year, the competition is increasing, so it is becoming more difficult and more honorable to get to the top.'
