Manitowoc was founded in the lakeshore community of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 1902 as a shipbuilding and ship-repair organization. Since that time, the company has grown and diversified, entering the lattice-boom crane business in the mid-1920s and branching into commercial refrigeration equipment shortly after World War II. Today, the company operates as a leading manufacturer of world-class cranes and lifting solutions. In each of these segments, Manitowoc is the industry leader in product breadth, product innovation, and product support services.

The Company, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, markets, distributes, and supports comprehensive product lines of mobile hydraulic cranes, lattice-boom crawler cranes, boom trucks, and tower cranes under the Aspen Equipment, Grove, Manitowoc, MGX Equipment Services, National Crane, Potain, and Shuttlelift brand names.
