CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2014) - Manson Creek Resources Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MCK) and partner Guatavita Gold Corporation are pleased to report on the completion of the Phase 1 maiden drilling program on the Guaman Project, Yukon Territory.

The first phase of drilling, the mobilization for which began in late July, has now been completed, with 4 drill holes testing part of a large induced polarization coincident chargeability and conductivity corridor, with strong associated surface geochemical anomaly. Four holes were drilled for a total of 673 meters, three holes of which were completed to planned target depth.

Outside of drill hole 1 which was terminated early due to difficult drilling conditions, all other holes intersected thick sections of rocks with exhalative components including bedded barite, laminated muds and silts exhibiting rhythmic banding and syngenetic sulphides dominated by pyrite. Drill hole number 4, the last drill hole completed in this phase of work, also intersected a thick sequence of sulphide bearing units with synsedimentary breccias occuring in a transition zone between exhalative units, sulphidic sediments and the underlying volcanic units, dominated by felsic volcanic rocks.

Mr. Jean-Pierre Jutras, P.Geol, the President of Manson Creek Resources and Guatavita Gold Corporation comments: "Our maiden drill program at Guaman was based on the concept that this previously untested area had potential for volcanogenic massive sulphide occurrences based on several years of previous regional and local ground work in the area. From a geological perspective this early round of drill testing has validated the volcanogenic massive sulphide model, encountering bedded barite, sulfides, and felsic volcanic rocks. Drilling has covered some 60 meters of strike length of the 800 meter long geophysical anomaly associated with strong and geochemically anomalous gossan formation at surface. As always with these first pass programs, we anxiously await results from extensive sampling of the drill holes to determine if the potential for economically interesting grades are associated with the parts of the system tested to date."

The drill rig used in this round of work has been demobilized and the field camp established on site for support of the drilling program has been secured and will be ready to support continued field activities as warranted in the future.

A total of 307 samples, including 5 standards for quality control purposes were sent to AGAT labs, representing systematic sampling of the three drill holes completed to depth, in 2 meter intervals. Assay results will be reported once they have been received, compiled and interpreted, with accompanying maps and sections for reference purposes.

Quality Control

All drill core was logged, photographed, and cut in half with a diamond saw on site. One quarter of the core was bagged and sent to AGAT Laboratories for analysis (which is an ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 certified lab), while the remaining core was archived and stored on site for verification and reference purposes. Gold is assayed by standard fire assay methods with 45 additional elements analyzed by Induced Coupled Plasma (ICP) utilizing a 4-acid digestion. Quality assurance and quality control is ensured through the use of certified standards as well as checks and assay of duplicate samples. Mr. Jean-Pierre Jutras, P.Geol., President of the Company, is the Qualified Person for the Guaman project as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and has approved the technical disclosure contained in this news release.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

Jean-Pierre Jutras, President/Director
