Manx Telecom has added some new features to this year's Phone Book. There's a two page feature on exploring the countryside which includes details about 'Warden's Walks' created by Peter Knowles who is one of the Island's forestry wardens. Information about the Country Code is also included along with other advice on how walkers and ramblers can protect the environment. It's followed by two pages of diary dates showing school terms and Bank Holidays, plus a list of major events in 2016. For many years, headlines on each page of the Phone Book's preface have included a Manx translation, but this year there's also a list of common Manx words and phrases, and useful links for anyone who wants to learn more.

As always, the Phone Book includes a comprehensive guide to all of Manx Telecom's fixed line, broadband and mobile services and a Business Directory - plus useful maps with a street index, and a list of MLCs and MHKs with contact details. The 2016 Phone Book and Business Directory is being delivered by Isle of Man firm Trade Distribution Limited to every home and business on the Island. Distribution begins on the weekend of January 16/17.

Steve Pickett, Managing Director of Trade Distribution Limited, commented: 'Trade Distribution is delighted to have been chosen to manage the distribution of the 2016 Phone Book. With over 50,000 books to deliver, we certainly have a busy schedule ahead and hope the weather is sympathetic to our delivery agents who will be braving the elements over the next three weeks to ensure every household receives their copy of the new book.'

You can also see the directory online at www.directory.im which also has an iPhone app that gives instant access to 4,500 local businesses, and the ability to call businesses direct with a single click. The app provides search results displayed on a map along with walking and driving directions to local attractions. With the app it's also easy to save business details to your contacts list or share it with colleagues or friends. To download the app simply go to www.directory.im or Apple app store.

Andrew Honour, Manx Telecom's Head of Consumer and Retail Sales, said that the printed directory is still popular, but more and more customers are using directory.im via the app to access information on the move. He said: 'The Phone Book and directory.im are designed to complement each other and provide for the needs of all our customers - whether they are at home or on the move. We are always looking at adding new features to both, and we hope that the new walking guides and diary dates pages will prove to be popular.'

If you want your old phone book to be recycled, one phone book per household can be left with kerbside recycling collections where they apply. As an alternative, residential customers can use the recycling skips available at the Island's civic amenity sites.
