Marston's Brewery concluded its first ever Beer Town Film Festival with a finale event that celebrated filmmakers from all over the UK.

Launched in September 2017, the Beer Town Film Festival had attracted 796 film entries by its closing date at the end of March 2018 from filmmakers across the country, culminating in seven category winners and one overall festival winner.

Matt Daunt won the Best Promotional and Music Film category for 'Blue' his music video for the Nottingham-based singer/songwriter, Rob Green. He then went on to be chosen as Best Overall Film for the festival winning the 'Hop D'Or'.

Organisers assembled a star-studded collection of twenty judges including the LA-based screenwriter for 'Fight Club', Jim Uhls, UK film and TV actor Steven Hartley, Hollywood visual effects producer Rich Yeomans (from Burton), award-winning filmmaker and writer, Deborah Haywood (also from Burton), Skins photographer, Gavin Watson and David Morris an award-winning Irish music video and feature documentary filmmaker.

Marston's Marketing Manager, Joanne Wyke said: 'In our first year for Beer Town Film Festival and we have been thrilled with the reaction from filmmakers, astounded by the talent and excited to recognise and reward the finalists and winners here in Burton.

'This initiative has strengthened the relationships that we have in the town as well as taking us to a whole new audience for Marston's beers. in our single goal to put this historic brewing town on the map and to celebrate craftmanship, creativity and emerging talent.'

The festival team are already planning year two and its launch in September 2018.
