(November 20, 2014) - Virginia Cancer Specialists (VCS), a premier cancer center in Virginia that is united in healing with The US Oncology Network, is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of its Fairfax Stem Cell Transplant Program. Fairfax Stem Cell Transplant is the only transplant program in the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). FACT accreditation is the recognized gold standard across the industry, the benchmark for quality care often required by insurance companies, and a distinguishing feature of top-notch stem cell transplant programs. Fairfax Stem Cell Transplant was founded in 1989 as a joint effort with Inova Fairfax Hospital. The program pioneered some of the first stem cell transplants in the mid-Atlantic region and has provided these life-saving procedures to more than 800 patients to date.

One of the few programs in the country to offer comprehensive transplantation services in a community setting, the Fairfax Stem Cell Transplant Program is recognized as a distinguished leader in the field due to its long history of success and the experience and expertise of its highly skilled team of transplant specialists.
