Lafayette Radiology, based in Lafayette, Indiana, has tapped McKesson Business Performance Services (McKesson) to provide a full range of revenue cycle management services, including ICD-10 education and support.

Services will include documentation training, coding, claims management, denial management, compliance and business intelligence reporting.

Lafayette is a community-based, eight-physician imaging practice affiliated with Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health. The practice is responsible for about 117,000 procedures annually. Teresa Mitchell, Lafayette Radiology’s executive director, said the group sought out documentation and coding expertise to help improve performance in the ICD-10 era.

“McKesson’s continuing documentation education is helping our staff adjust to the new world of ICD-10,” Mitchell said. “At the same time, we are benefiting greatly from McKesson’s long-standing expertise in radiology coding, billing, denial management and compliance. We see this relationship as a major step forward as our practice adapts to a changing healthcare environment.”

Mitchell added that “McKesson’s business intelligence reporting will be beneficial in managing the organization and identifying opportunities for future growth. Of particular value are trending reports that provide information on case mix and productivity.”

In addition to billing, McKesson will support the PQRS (Physician Quality Reporting System) requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Pat Leonard, president of McKesson Business Performance Services, said McKesson is enthusiastic about aligning with a key community health resource like Lafayette Radiology.

“McKesson is committed to working with practices of all sizes and configurations in communities across the country,” Leonard said. “Regardless of the specific market conditions organizations face, McKesson can help them prosper in today’s uncertain healthcare climate.”
