NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Medidata (NASDAQ:MDSO), the leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for clinical research in life sciences, is pleased to announce that Kara Dennis has been named an industry "Rising Star" by the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA). She will be honored at the HBA's 26th Woman of the Year event on Thursday, May 14, in New York City.

Dennis, Medidata's managing director of mHealth, leads the company's pioneering efforts to enable mHealth-powered clinical trials and patient-centric research, opening doors for a new era in data collection. She spearheads initiatives to unify mobile tools and wearable devices and sensors with cloud-based technologies in a clinical trial setting, helping customers transform their research programs through the collection of high volumes of objective, high-quality data that provide continuous, actionable insight into patient well-being and disease progression.

"We are excited that Kara's leadership and hard work in driving Medidata's mobile health initiatives have been recognized by the HBA, an organization that represents some of the industry's most remarkable talent," said Glen de Vries, Medidata's president. "Kara is passionate about finding new ways to use innovative technology to transform drug development, and her commitment to tackling the most difficult challenges every day make her a much admired role model at Medidata."

At the May 14 HBA event, nearly 2,500 leaders from across the industry will gather to celebrate the 2015 Rising Stars.
