Meggitt contract with Textron Aviation for wireless tyre pressure monitoring

Meggitt PLC, a leading international aerospace and defence engineering group, today announces that it has been awarded a contract with Textron Aviation, a Textron Inc (NYSE: TXT) company, to develop a wireless system that can check tire pressures on a business jet in just a few seconds, replacing the need for a manual gauge.

This follows on from Meggitt's long experience in providing wireless systems for aircraft which started in 2000 with the introduction of the first flight-essential wireless system to monitor smoke detectors in aircraft cargo holds. Meggitt's wireless systems are now flying in over 1,500 aircraft.

Meggitt Sensing Systems President, Chris Allen said: "This contract builds on the development work we have been undertaking with Textron Aviation on this innovative technology which can help to extend tyre life and reduce human error resulting in significant savings in maintenance costs and increasing flight reliability for aircraft owners and their passengers."
