MERSEN WINS A LARGE ORDER FROM SIEMENS LINKED TO EUROPEAN ELECTRICITY HIGHWAY PROJECT PARIS, JANUARY 31, 2017 - Mersen (Euronext FR0000039620 - MRN), a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, is announcing that it has received an order worth close to €7 million from Siemens Energy Management for an HVDC project to develop electricity highways1.Under the deal, Mersen is to supply the cooling devices, protecting the integrated power modules in the HVDC technology converter stations supplied by Siemens. One station will form the interconnector between the German and Belgian (ALEGrO project).
HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology is a power electronics technology used for long- distance power transmission.
Mersen's custom-designed cooling devices were selected to meet the flawless reliability standards required for these advanced technology systems, which are used in highly demanding environments and conditions. The first-class long-term relationships forged with Siemens' teams also contributed to this success. They are predicated on the renowned quality of the Group's products and logistics and on the excellent customer service delivered by the Eggolsheim (Germany) and La Mure (France) facilities, where the heatsinks will be manufactured.
Deliveries will be staggered over 2017 and 2018.
