Metall Zug Group: Site refurbishment, digitization and Infection Control impacting on results

Zug, November 3, 2017 - Substantial costs connected with digitization and product development, a somewhat lower sales figure in the Household Appliances Business Unit, and the strategic refurbishment of the V-ZUG site are set to impact on the operating result (EBIT). In addition, Belimed project orders, which will probably have to be postponed until next year, and the unsatisfactory status of the restructuring of the Life Science segment at Infection Control will have a negative effect on the operating result.

The Metall Zug Group is continuing to invest intensively in product development, site refurbishment and digitization. Sales in the Household Appliances Business Unit in 2017 are likely to slightly fall short of previous year's level. Furthermore, substantial preparatory and planning work relating to the strategic refurbishment of the Zug production facility will be required. In the Infection Control Business Unit, some projects in the Life Science segment will be delayed into 2018. Moreover, the unsatisfactory status of the restructuring of the Life Science segment is impacting on the result. From today's perspective, the operating result of the Metall Zug Group for 2017 is therefore likely to amount to around CHF 75 million (2016: CHF 94 million).

In connection with the publication of the half-year results, the Group had projected a slightly lower operating result for 2017 as a whole compared with the previous year (CHF 94 million).

The Metall Zug Group will publish its detailed 2017 results on March 22, 2018.
