The 3rd Overhaul Company of MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co., Ltd. (BTS) completed the installation and commissioning works of China's longest electromagnet suspended beam and the relevant electric equipment on December 23, 2014.
This electromagnet suspended beam is located in the workshop of Thick Plate Plant of Baosteel. As a specialized lifting tool for steel plate, it consists of truss-work, chains and 18 electromagnetic chucks, with a total weight of about 60 tons. It is designed with a length of 49m, while the actual total length is 49.2m, which is the longest electromagnet suspended beam in China and can satisfy the lifting and delivering demands of steel plate with a length of over 50m. During the operation, the bridge crane can catch up the steel plate through the electromagnetic chucks under the suspended beam, and lift the plate to a certain height by means of the hoisting device, and then deliver it to the appointed location through the moving device. Therefore it is featured by less occupying space and high delivering efficiency.
