The Welding Materials Company of MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co., Ltd. (BTS) announced that, under the Natural Gas Base Project in Yamal Island of Russia which was contracted by Penglai Jutal Offshore Engineering Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (PJOE), it won the supply contract of ultra-low temperature welding materials for the modular establishment works and became the only one Chinese supplier of such materials on October 15, 2014.
In accordance with the contract, the Welding Materials Company of BTS shall supply BHM-8 submerged arc welding wire of ultra-low temperature and high tenacity, as well as XUN-121 flux combination. The first batch of supply includes 95 tons of BHM-8 welding wire and 135 tons of XUN-121 flux combination, with a supply period from November 2014 to August 2015. In line with the progressing of the modular establishment works, the supply quantity will be increased successively.
The Natural Gas Base Project in Yamal Island of Russia is deemed to be one of the largest liquification and export bases of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world. Under this project, the natural gas buried in the arctic region of Russia will be liquefied and delivered to users in both Europe and Asia. As the jobsite is located in the severe-cold region in the north of the earth, the Russia client requests that the tensile strength of the welding materials under as-welded condition and normalizing after welding shall be larger than 500MPa, and the low-temperature impact energy in the environment of -40℃ shall be larger than 34 Joule. The BHM-8 welding wire and the XUN-121 flux combination independently developed by the Welding Materials Company of BTS have passed through the 5Y40M accreditation by CCS, GL, BV and DNV. These materials can fully meet the requirement on tensile strength. In addition, it shall be especially noted that, the low-temperature impact energy in the environment of -60℃ can reach up to 100 Joule.
