The No. 15 blast furnace produced out red molten iron on March 30, 2014. This symbolized that, the transformation work of No. 15 and No. 16 blast furnaces, which were contracted by the 19th China Metallurgical Construction Group (19MCC Group), was completed 10 days ahead of the original schedule.
Now the State Government is carrying out macro control on the steel industry, and endeavoring to promote the energy-conservation and environment-protection concept. In this view, Rizhao Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. put forward a new principle, according to which the newly-built facilities shall not be put into operation unless they are proved to be in compliance with the environment protection requirements; the facilities under the technical transformation project shall not be put into operation unless they are proved to be in compliance with the design standards; and the whole system shall not be put into operation unless it is proved to be in compliance with the environment protection requirements. With regard to the existing production facilities, Rizhao Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. decided to undertake technical transformation with the targets to improve the safety in production, energy conservation, environment protection and the technical level of the equipment.
The technical transformation project of No. 15 and No. 16 blast furnaces covers the demolishment of the two blast furnaces (each with a volume of 850 cubic meters), civil works, installation, commissioning and interactive trial run. The engineering contents include: supply of raw materials; bunker and feeder system; water slag flushing system; hot air stove system; air blower; circulation pump station of the blast furnace; dry dust removal system; pulverized coal injection system; pipelines of fuel gas, driving force, water and power supply system; and the other technical transformation work. The construction period is 110 days.
This project is featured by limited construction period and heavy tasks. As a matter of fact, in the blast furnace transformation history in China, it is relatively rare that the demolishment of the two blast furnaces (each with a volume of 850 cubic meters) could be completed within a short period of 110 days. In this view, all the 505 employers of 19MCC Group under this project conquered various difficulties, took painstaking efforts, eventually fulfilled the task within 100 days and enabled the blast furnace to be put into operation in advance. Thus the perfect performance of 19MCC Group was placed with high premium by the employer and the general contractor.
