WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Ltd. (WISDRI) declared that, under the de-dusting transformation works for No. 1 and No. 2 blast-furnaces of Wuhan Iron & Steel Group, which was contracted by WISDRI's Design Institute of Wuhan Steel Works in an EPC manner, the raw-material de-dusting system was smoothly put into commissioning on December 8, 2014. This marks that the dust emission of the said furnaces will be in compliance with the new emission standard promulgated by the State Government.
This is a key transformation project for environment protection of Wuhan Steel Works in this year. Under this project, the previous electric precipitator shall be replaced by bag-type dust collector, so that the new bag-type de-dusting system shall be built up, land the dust hood and pipeline of the previous system shall be transformed. This is deemed to be largest bag-type dust collector of Wuhan Steel Works, with a wind volume of 1.08 million cubic meters per hour.
The newly-built raw-material de-dusting system is the major difficulty under this project. The jobsite is located a narrow area where there used to be the raw-materials trestle of No. 3 blast-furnace. There are various pipelines in the upper space and complicated obstacles under the ground. In addition, the temporary de-dusting pipeline spans across nine railways. All these factors have brought about remarkable difficulties for the project execution. In order to ensure the timely and smooth connection with the de-dusting pipeline of No. 2 blast-furnace, the designers of WISDRI conducted efficient coordination, and took the initiative to dispatch backbone force to offer service on the site. In view of that the drawings of the raw-materials trestle of No. 3 blast-furnace were incomplete, they decided to make design for each pile during the excavation operation, and the design work was carried out simultaneously with the excavation. With regard to the difficulty for transportation and hoisting of the temporary pipeline, they made repeated research and eventually resolved all the problems.
