  From July 19th to 21st, the Sixth Asia-Pacific Conference on Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) in Structures (APFIS2017) and the Tenth National Construction Project FRP Application Academic Symposium were co-held by CRIBC and other units in Singapore. The Conference was attended by over 160 representatives from famous universities, research institutes, enterprises and public institutions in 23 countries and regions.

  The Conference was co-held by the China Civil Engineering Society's FRP and Engineering Application Committee and CRIBC's Singapore Company. FRP Professional Committee Chairman Member and CRIBC President Yue Qingrui was the Chairman of the Conference, while Harbin Institute of Technology Professor Xian Guijun was Vice-Chairman.

  During the Conference, 5 famous foreign and domestic experts in the FRP civil engineering research field were invited to give lectures, including Swiss Federal Laboratories including Material Testing and Research Professor Urs Meier, Harbin Institute of Technology Professor Li Hui, University of Texas at Arlinton Professor Vistasp M. Karbhari, Hong Kong Polytechnic University Professor Teng Jinguang and Institut National des Transports Professor Monssef Drissi-Habti. The Conference was organized with 28 parallel sessions on such topics as strengthening techniques, durability studies and new structure applications, providing 158 wonderful reports for the attendees.

  Prizes announced and issued at the Conference included the 'IIFC Best Paper Award', the China Civil Engineering Society FRP and Engineering Application Committee's '2017 Construction Project Composite Material Excellent Young Scholar Award', and the 'Construction Project Composite Material Application Achievement Popularization Award'.

  FRP has such merits as light weight, high strength and anti-corrosion properties, making it the ideal material for improving structural performance and prolonging the service life of structures. It has been more and more widely used in the civil engineering field in recent years and enjoys broad development prospects. The research and applications of FRP range from the reinforcement, repair and extension of current architectural structures to new composite structures. As the official meeting of the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC), the APFIS conference is held every two years. The successful hosting of this conference will promote the relevant research, development and technology popularization of composite materials in domestic civil engineering, and has great significance for improving China's scientific research and engineering applications in the field.
