Metso promotes employee health, safety and well-being with a housekeeping campaign in Chile

Metso Corporation's press release on September 28, 2015

Metso has identified that an important part of the work-related accidents occur due to misplaced tools and equipment or an unorderly work environment. To raise awareness about the importance of proper management in the work place where different tasks are performed, Metso launched a campaign in Chile called 'Housekeeping - key to productivity and safety'.

The housekeeping campaign aimed at raising awareness about two key issues: the importance of maintaining good order and the cleanliness of working areas as well as the proper hazard identification and risk assessment in routine tasks. The campaign targeted all employees in Chile working in operational areas such as the factory, service center and distribution center, as well as employees working in Metso offices throughout the country.

Maintaining good order is part of Metso's minimum safety standards. The housekeeping campaign in Chile has been an opportunity to emphasize the importance of maintaining and safeguarding the company's safety performance to ensure that standards are met.

Furthermore, Metso was able to reinforce the message of the importance of mutual care with the campaign, as well as the importance of complementing the activities that customers perform in the area of health and safety.

'For Metso, safety initiatives like this one are important to maintain and to further improve our low work accident rates, which enable us to help our customers achieve their results. Having these forums to raise awareness on safety activities gives us a great opportunity to continue innovating in these areas,' said Manuel Guzmán, Risk Prevention, Environment and Quality Manager, Pacific Rim, Minerals, Metso.

At Metso, prioritizing the health, safety and well-being of employees, customers and partners in all its operations is fundamental. This is reflected in the different initiatives that the company organizes to emphasize the importance of maintaining and safeguarding its safety performance such as Safety Pledge, a global campaign organized each year.
