How can you ensure plant safety by choosing the right valves? Get the answer at Metso's stand at Industrial Valve Summit in Bergamo, Italy

Metso Corporation press release, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 EET

Metso will showcase its extensive valve offering for the oil and gas and other process industries at the Industrial Valve Summit (IVS) 2017, taking place May 24-25 at BergamoExhibition Center in Bergamo, Italy. Metso experts at the event will share the most recent insights in improving plant reliability and safety through well-planned valve optimization solutions, best-practice maintenance planning and advanced digitalization. Meet Metso at stand 82 in Hall B.

Metso will be displaying a wide range of products and services, such as control valves, on/off valves and ESD valves.

ESD valves are widely used in refineries, petrochemical sites and LNG plants around the world. Top-level safety and field-proven reliability are the requirements for valve solutions. Making the correct final element selection is a vital part of a plant's safety throughout its life cycle. Valve selection should always take into consideration an application-based view, which will guarantee that valves continue to work in emergency situations.

Functional safety calculations are valid only if the right valves are selected

At IVS 2017, Ville Kähkönen, Oil and Gas Business Manager at Metso, will present a paper on choosing the right valves for ESD on Wednesday, May 24 at 16:00.

Kähkönen's presentation will introduce a procedure that should be followed to ensure that the final element has the capability to work in emergency situations. Another topic of his presentation is how functional safety calculations can be used to maintain safety. The presentation will discuss the background of certification and look at how these certifications should be used with safety valves.
