The launch of the new MICHELIN Pilot Road 4, the fourth generation of Michelin's acclaimed motorcycle sport touring tire range, sees the brand continue to push out the envelope in overall performance terms.

The MICHELIN Pilot Road 4, which joins one of the most competitive and innovation-driven tire markets, is available in a choice of three versions: Standard, GT and Trail.

The introduction of the MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 strengthens its number one status in the Sport Touring Radial market (one of the most competitive and innovation-driven of the sector) in Europe and North America alike thanks to a new high-performance range which covers the majority of road bikes of a capacity of more than 600cc.

The new MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 tire stands out through the fact that it delivers not only enhanced safety, but also increased rider confidence and even greater enjoyment whatever the conditions... and for even longer. When it comes to braking on very slippery wet roads, it outperforms its nearest rival by 17 percent. At the same time, it represents a 20 percent improvement in terms of longevity over its predecessor, the MICHELIN Pilot Road 3 tire, which was introduced three years ago and which continues to top the Sport Touring Radial market. These improvements are concrete evidence of the value of the MICHELIN Total Performance strategy which seeks to simultaneously push out the envelope in all the areas that play a part in the global performance of a tire.

To achieve such a high level of performance, MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 benefits from four key technologies, namely:

  • MICHELIN 2 CT (Two Compound Technology)
  • MICHELIN XST (X-Sipe Technology)
  • MICHELIN XST+ (an enhanced version of the MICHELIN XST siped tread pattern)
  • The innovative Michelin-patented MICHELIN 2 AT (Dual Angle Technology), featuring a revolutionary construction for the GT version

Thanks to the GT version of the MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 tire, MICHELIN tires are the original equipment choice for 40 percent of the BMW R 1200 RT range, the best-selling motorbike in its class. This figure mirrors the strong bonds Michelin enjoys with the German manufacturer.

Michelin's two-wheel division is driven by its determination to suit to all types of weather and road conditions. On every continent, there is a Michelin solution for every rider whatever the type of two-wheel vehicle they own, from the most powerful sport bikes for use on race tracks, to small or medium-sized motorcycles and off-road bikes. The MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 tire is a perfect illustration of this claim.
