Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. : Mindspeed Wins Small Cell Industry Award with SK Telecom and Contela for "Innovation in Commercial Deployment"

Leadership in Small Cell Technology Demonstrated as Mindspeed Powers Multiple Award Winners

Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), SK Telecom and Contela have won the Small Cell Industry Award for Commercial Deployment (Innovation in Commercial Deployment) at the 2012 Small Cell World Summit in London. The award is for the deployment of the world's first data-only femtocell service designed to offload increasing mobile data traffic caused by the rapid growth of smartphones and tablets.

Mindspeed was the only baseband silicon company to be honored as an award winner during the event. In addition, the winners in five other categories at the Small Cell Industry Awards feature Mindspeed technology 'under the hood,' including an award for Radisys Corporation for LTE small cells developed for Korea Telecom.

Mindspeed partner Radisys was honored as the winner of the "Enabling Technology" category for their Trillium® TOTALeNodeB software solution. This award highlighted the LTE small cells developed by Juni and Dongwon for Korea Telecom, which use the Radisys solution. These LTE small cells are built on baseband processors from Mindspeed.

Mindspeed, the leader in small cell SoCs with 70% share of the HSPA market according to data from ABI Research, has 25 LTE design engagements with companies including KT, Contela, Juni, Powerwave Technologies, Inc., AirWalk Communications and Tektelic Communications Inc. In addition, the company has over 40 WCDMA design engagements and six different time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) femtocell and picocell customer products.

Mindspeed is the only small cell SoC company that has demonstrated support for both HSPA and LTE in its small cell SoCs, and is the only one to have shown both frequency-division duplexing (FDD) LTE and time-division LTE (TD-LTE) solutions.
