FOR GENERAL RELEASE Donation for Victims of the Earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China

Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (Yasuhiro Sato, Group CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors) would like to offer its deepest sympathy to those affected by the earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China, especially the families of those who lost their lives in this terrible disaster.
Mizuho has decided to donate JPY5,000,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society for the support of victims and for recovery efforts.
In addition, Mizuho Corporate Bank (China), Ltd. has made a donation of CNY100,000 to the Humanitarian Relief and Aid Fund of Shanghai Red Cross Society, and the Mizuho Charity Fund, which is funded by charitable contribution by Mizuho employees, has made a donation of JPY500,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
