Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene will deliver the keynote address at South Africa's biggest board meeting, The Directors Event, which will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 8 June 2018. President Ramaphosa, who was initially scheduled to deliver the keynote address, will unfortunately not be in attendance as a result of government programme demands.

Now in its fourth year, The Directors Event invites industry leaders to unpack three issues of national importance and discuss solutions in a public forum, moderated by highly-respected media personalities.

'It's been a rollercoaster few months for the Minister since his return to his post, he has been faced struggling state-owned enterprises, low growth and the scrutiny of ratings agencies. So far, he has managed to ease some anxieties over the state of the fiscus. Getting his views on how he has done that and his future steps will be interesting,'' says Ron Derby, Business Times Editor.

Nontokozo Madonsela, Chief Marketing Officer at MMI Holdings says, 'We are grateful that Minister Nene is able to step in for President Ramaphosa. We at MMI Holdings have great respect and admiration for the minister's integrity and leadership of National Treasury, whose work goes to the heart of the working of the country. We are excited to hear what Mr Nene will share at South Africa's Biggest Board Meeting to help shape a much better future for all of us'.

Youth employment & entrepreneurship, the use of technology to promote inclusive growth, and our political economy will be hot topics in this year's highly focussed discussion programme which attracts participation from the country's most prominent business and government leaders, and an audience of 300 'board member' delegates.

Previous keynote speakers at The Directors Event have included Caroline Galvan (Lead Economist & Editor: Africa Competitiveness Report for the World Economic Forum), and Mcebisi Jonas (Former Deputy Minister of Finance).

Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, Minister of Science & Technology, and Enoch Godongwana, Chairperson of the ANC sub-committee on Economic Transformation will also be representing the perspectives of Government and the governing party during the round-table discussions at this year's event.

The Directors Event programme is tailored for corporates, SMEs, educators, and non-profit organisations who are serious about turning South Africa's socio-economic crisis around.

The Directors Event will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 8 June 2018. To view the 2018 agenda, speaker profiles, or to book tickets: www.thedirectorsevent.co.za
