Kuala Lumpur, 17 February 2015 - The MNRB Group posted revenue of RM1.76 billion and net profit of RM50.7 million for the nine-month period ended 31 December 2014, as compared to revenue and net profit of RM1.80 billion and RM81.3 million respectively in the corresponding period the year before. This performance came on the back of a few large claims that impacted the results of the Company's reinsurance and retakaful subsidiaries, including claims related to the recent floods in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

The bulk of the Group's revenue for the nine-month period was contributed by its reinsurance subsidiary, Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad (Malaysian Re), which turned in RM1.06 billion in revenue.

The Group's takaful subsidiary, Takaful IKHLAS Berhad (Takaful IKHLAS), saw its revenue increased by 3.6% to RM653.1 million in the current period from RM630.2 million previously. The growth was contributed by both its general and family takaful portfolios.

The Group's retakaful subsidiary, MNRB Retakaful Berhad (MRT), recorded an improvement in its results from a net loss of RM28.1 million previously to a net loss of RM15.1 million in the current period. The improvement was largely due to the reduction in claim reserves of the family retakaful fund.

MNRB Holdings Berhad is an investment holding company. Amongst its wholly owned subsidiaries are Malaysian Re, Takaful IKHLAS, MRT and Malaysian Re (Dubai) Ltd (MRDL).  MNRB is listed on the Main Market of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
