Kuala Lumpur, 11th March 2015 - In continuing its effort to promote the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle among employees, MNRB Holdings Berhad (MNRB) has once again collaborated with the Heart Foundation of Malaysia (YJM) for the MNRB Healthy Heart Awareness Campaign. This 3-day programme was first initiated in 2004 to educate employees on all aspects of health, especially pertaining to heart disease as well as the importance of preventive health care.

In conjunction with the campaign, MNRB contributed RM25,000 in support of the Foundation's efforts towards educating and enhancing the overall awareness of heart health amongst Malaysians. The contribution was presented by Encik Mohd Din Merican, President & Group Chief Executive Officer of MNRB to Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dato' Kamaruzzaman Bin Shariff, Vice President of YJM, in a ceremony held yesterday at Bangunan Malaysian Re, Kuala Lumpur.

This campaign provides employees with free health screening consisting of a blood pressure test, a blood test for glucose and cholesterol levels as well as a health counselling session. The health screening is organized yearly not only to advocate a healthier lifestyle but to also create awareness amongst employees on heart related issues and the necessary steps in ensuring better health. In addition, Dr. Akmal Hakim bin Arshad, Cardiology Clinical Specialist of the National Heart Institute (IJN), shared his expertise on proper heart care with the employees through a health talk entitled "Prevention of Heart Disease".

Newly added health assessments namely eye check-up, breast examination and fitness and flexibility test by KPJ Healthcare Group (KPJ) were added to the campaign to further promote preventive care amongst employees while the 'Bone Health Check" programme by Anlene was maintained as part of the campaign to help raise awareness of bone health and the importance of maintaining strong and healthy bones.

The MNRB Healthy Heart Awareness Campaign is a platform for MNRB to encourage its employees to improve their overall health by focusing on key health behaviors such as preventive health care, increasing physical activity, improving eating habits and reducing stress. To ensure that MNRB employees maintain these healthy habits, a 7-month fitness and weight loss programme called "The Awesome You Challenge 2.0" was launched during the campaign.
