Modern Times Mtg : MTG Studios announces second season of ‘Swedish Dicks’

• MTG Studios commissions season two of successful original series
• Agreement with Hollywood studio Lionsgate includes global distribution rights for season two

MTG Studios has commissioned a second season of its hit series 'Swedish Dicks' that will reach Viaplay viewers in late 2017. The second season will be produced by Brain Academy, a part of MTG-owned Nice Entertainment Group, in collaboration with LA-based Viking Brothers Entertainment.

'Swedish Dicks' is a comedy series following two unlicensed private detectives as they solve bizarre cases in Los Angeles. The show stars Peter Stormare ('American Gods', 'The Blacklist', 'Fargo') and leading Swedish stand-up comedian Johan Glans. The first season, which premiered on MTG's video streaming service Viaplay in the Nordic region on 2 September, set a viewing record for a Viaplay premiere and is today the most popular series on the service.

MTG recently announced a global distribution agreement for the show with leading Hollywood studio Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a global content leader with nearly 80 television shows on 40 networks. The series is the first Nordic title to be distributed worldwide by Lionsgate, and is expected to premiere in the U.S. early next year. Lionsgate also holds global distribution rights for the second season.

MTG Studios has recently announced the production of Nordic noir drama 'Hassel' starring Ola Rapace; its first original film, 'SuperSwede', about the life of Swedish Formula 1 driver Ronnie Peterson; and its first kids' series, 'The Big Experiment', which will premiere on Viaplay in the Nordics on 1 December.
