Monitise plc (LSE: MONI) announces that Non-Executive Director, Tom Houghton, has stepped down from the Board of Directors, with effect from 29 March 2015.

During the recent Strategic Review, to avoid any possible conflicts of interest, it was necessary for Tom, as Visa Europe's Board representative, to recuse himself from Board discussions. In order to avoid any such issues recurring, Monitise and Visa Europe have agreed that Tom should step down.

Visa Europe continues to have a strong relationship with Monitise and today's announcement does not affect the contractual arrangements between Monitise and Visa Europe. The three-year commercial agreement signed between Visa Europe and Monitise in 2013 is unaffected.

Commenting on today's announcement, Nicolas Huss, CEO Visa Europe and Peter Ayliffe, Chairman of Monitise, said: "We both believe our commercial interests are now better served without a Board position."

Peter Ayliffe added: "The Board of Monitise would like to thank Tom for his significant contribution to the business during his time on the Board."
