Morningstar Announces Agenda for 2015 South Africa Investment Conference; Caroline Da Silva, Anton Musgrave, Greg B. Davies, Nick Kirrage among Featured Speakers

CAPE TOWN, 17th August 2015-Morningstar Research (Pty) Limited, a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), leading provider of independent investment research, has announced the speaker and programme details for its third Morningstar Investment Conference.

The Morningstar Investment Conference for South Africa will be held in Cape Town on 17th September 2015 and will showcase insights and analysis from investment professionals and industry leaders from South Africa and Europe. The event is expected to attract some 250 financial advisers.

The conference will review the macro-economic landscape, including the impact of quantitative easing, oil price fluctuation, and a weak Rand. The conference will also explore imminent Retail Distribution Review (RDR) changes and how the regulation will affect advisers and their clients. Experts in behavioural economics, asset allocation, equity and risk will present ideas at the forefront of each topic.

Other highlights of this year's conference include:

  • Caroline Da Silva, Financial Services Board, Deputy Executive Officer, FAIS Department; John Kinsley, Director, Prudential Portfolio Managers Unit Trust; and David Kop, Head: Advocacy and Consumer Affairs, Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa, on the impact of RDR.
  • Anton Musgrave, Senior Partner, FutureWorld International Ltd., on how rapid social and technological change is impacting financial services.
  • Simon Ewan, Managing Director, EMEA, Morningstar Investment Management group, on the benefits of value-driven asset allocation in an inefficient market.
  • Greg B. Davies, Head of Behavioural-Quantitative Finance, Barclays Wealth, on the importance of considering investor anxiety when thinking about returns.
  • Robin Johnson, Head of Portfolio Management, EMEA, Morningstar Investment Management group, on the behavioural aspects of investment risk.
  • Dane Schrauwen, Portfolio Manager, Foord; Kevin Lings, Chief Economist, STANLIB; and Peter Kent, Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, Investec Asset Management on macro trends.
  • Nick Kirrage, co-Head of Schroders Global Value team, on how learning the investment lessons of the past help identify the best investments for the future.
