Mosaic celebrated the much-anticipated grand opening of the new Mosaic Center at the Florida Aquarium on Thursday, May 11, 2017. It's the latest on a growing list of accomplishments that - over the course of a 20 year partnership - has opened the door for thousands of children in DeSoto, Hardee and Manatee counties to visit on school field trips and provided hundreds of thousands of gallons of essential salt water to the facility from company-owned barges.

In 2011, the relationship was further expanded when Mosaic announced its support of the Aquarium's Rising Tides capital campaign, pledging $2.5-million - the single largest gift ever received by the Aquarium - to create a state-of-the-art, 'open-air' event and conference facility designed to open up new possibilities for the Aquarium, Tampa's downtown district and other area businesses.

'How we partner with the Aquarium isn't nearly as important as why we do it,' said Mark Kaplan, VP-Phosphates Services. 'We are proud to work alongside the Florida Aquarium because they maintain a laser focus on educating our youth and community at large on conservation and restoration of our environment - values that parallel ours.'

Today's 'bow tie' cutting ceremony not only marked the official opening of the facility, but also served as recognition of the leadership provided by the Aquarium's late President and CEO, Thom Stork, as well as his love for the signature accessory he was well known for wearing.
