Bandwidth Engine Family Solves Memory Bottlenecks; Programmable Search Engine Accelerates Packet Processing Engines by Offloading Customer-defined Search Functions; and the LineSpeed Family of 100G PHYs Delivers Flexible Power, Industry-leading Signal Integrity and Features for Faster, More Intelligent and Secure Cloud Network Infrastructure

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MoSys (NASDAQ:MOSY), a leader in semiconductor solutions that enable fast, intelligent data access for network and communications systems, will showcase its Bandwidth Engine® 3 intelligent serial interface memory, Programmable Search Engine, and its extensive family of LineSpeed™ 100G gearbox and retimer PHY solutions at OFC 2016 in booth #3666. The company will conduct demonstrations of the newest addition to its LineSpeed Flex family as well as the recently announced Bandwidth Engine 3 and its Programmable Search Engine (PSE) products.

The LineSpeed Flex 100G Full-Duplex Retimer (MSH222) supports a total of 8 independent lanes, each supporting  rates over 28Gbps and options to support different line side and backplane reach requirements (IEEE CAUI-4 to 802.3bj) and KR-4 clause 91 RS-FEC. The device is packaged in small form factor 13x13mm FCBGA with 1mm pitch for easy integration in line card applications.

The PSE-S30 (MSPS30) integrates 32 multithreaded, search-optimized processor elements designed to offload subroutines from FPGA, NPU, processor, or ASIC based packet-processing engines to improve performance, add features, or reduce footprint and power. The device uses the same serial interface and protocol as MoSys’ Bandwidth Engine family, allowing reuse of a proven infrastructure. Because of this private host interface and microcode firmware, any of the small customer-defined functions (subroutines) offloaded to the PSE-S30 can remain private and secure, as they run on the multithreaded processor engines inside the device.

“We are pleased to be able demonstrate interoperability between the latest Xilinx and MoSys devices so shortly after their introduction,” stated Gilles Garcia, director of wired communications at Xilinx. “Xilinx’s industry leading UltraScale+ FPGAs and MoSys Bandwidth Engine and Programmable Search Engine products leverage both companies’ high-speed serial interface technology, industry-leading performance, and application expertise, as well as a proven record of successful implementations in a broad range of customer applications.”

MoSys technology demonstrations at OFC 2016 will include:

  • LineSpeed Flex 100G Full Duplex Retimer (MSH222) showing long reach capability as well as other LineSpeed family members interoperating with optical interface solutions.
  • Bandwidth Engine 3 (MSR830) interoperating with Xilinx‘s UltraScale+™ FPGA. This demonstration highlights compatibility of the latest products from both companies leveraging a proven Bandwidth Engine and FPGA high-speed serial interface ecosystem spanning multiple generations.
  • PSE Integrated Development Environment (IDE) designed to allow customers or partners to develop, assemble, and debug small micro-code functions (subroutines).
  • IC Spotlight™ Analyzer device configuration and analysis tool with support for both Bandwidth Engine and LineSpeed products.

“OFC provides a great opportunity to show our expanding product portfolio aimed at addressing memory bandwidth, packet processing and signal integrity bottlenecks,” stated John Monson, VP of marketing and sales for MoSys. “With the introduction of our latest LineSpeed Flex device for 100G long-reach applications and recent introduction of the Programmable Search Engine product family, we continue to expand our portfolio of devices that provide system performance, power, flexibility and size benefits for networking, security and cloud infrastructure applications.”

OFC is the largest global conference and exposition for optical communications and networking professionals. The Technical Conference takes place from March 20-24, exhibition from March 22-24, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. MoSys demonstrations and product information will be available at MoSys booth #3666.
