Scotland TranServ, a Balfour Beatty Mouchel joint venture, has won for the first time a major contract to manage and maintain major trunk roads in the South West of Scotland. The new five-year contract, awarded by the Scottish Ministers, is worth approximately £25 million per annum and covers an area stretching from Stranraer in Dumfries and Galloway to Alexandria in Strathclyde. It will commence on 1 April 2013 and has extension options of up to five further years.

Norrie Westbrook, Scotland TranServ Joint Venture Board Director, said: "We are delighted to have secured the South West contract. Our primary focus is on safe journeys in all seasons and the safety of our workforce. The win is a testimony to our policy of retaining and developing staff with local knowledge and experience and it creates a platform for continued company growth. We will work closely with the current operating company until the handover date to ensure a seamless transfer for staff and the travelling public."

Scotland TranServ will deliver the contract by investing in the latest technology and employing the highest calibre of people throughout its organisation.
