Mick Leech, Technical Director at Mouchel in the Intelligent Transport team, has been appointed to the National Committee of the Highway Electrical Association (HEA) National Council. Mouchel is the first consultant to be appointed to the committee.

The most influential body in the highway electrical sector, HEA was formed in 2011 by the amalgamation of ASLEC - the Association of Signals, Lighting and other highway electrical contractors - and HEMSA - the Highway Electrical Manufacturers and Suppliers Association.  It represents more than 120 members; 80 members whose contracting activities range from street lighting, traffic signals and signs to highway communications and camera systems and around 40 members who manufacture, assemble, supply and distribute equipment into the highway electrical sector as well as overseeing and client organisations.

Mick said: "It's an honour to be appointed to the HEA National Council, a first for a consultant, and pleased that through my appointment Mouchel's important role in the highway electrical sector is recognised."

As a committee member, Mick will play an important role in ensuring that issues affecting manufacturers and suppliers in the highway electrical sector are properly considered with a view to developing HEA to be pro-active, responsive and of value to the industry.
