Last week IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division held a review of protection means and devices. Similar events are held in the branches of the company annually, beginning in 2009, their main goal is the selection of the most modern and high-quality protection means and devices and so as to avoid injuries and risks when working at power facilities, for their further use in their daily activities.

15 supplier companies featured their products in the review: voltage detectors up to 1000V and 6-110kV and devices to verify their serviceability, individual signalling voltage indicators, protection devices against falls from heights, electrician manholes of various kinds, grounding devices for 0.4 kV overhead lines with self-supporting insulated wires, setting tools, throwing on devices for wires up to 10kV, personal protective equipment, and more. An expert commission selected the protective gear, composed of employees of the Office of production safety and industrial control of all branches of IDGC of Centre. "The main attention was paid to the selection of the quality of protective equipment and ease of use by electricians in the course of operation," stresses Head of Occupational Safety Service of IDGC of Centre Elena Kalinina. As a result of the review, the commission identified patterns of products corresponding to the performance specifications of IDGC of Centre, which can be permitted for purchase and further operation.

"Protective equipment ensures safe operation of electrical fitters. Many things depend on the quality and ease of operation, first of all - life and health of our employees. From this perspective, the importance of reviews, in which we are able to select product samples, which fully meet these criteria, cannot be overemphasized," stressed First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division Evgeny Smirnov.
