MRSK Tsentra : "Russian Grids" and the leadership of the Yaroslavl region signed an agreement on economic promotion of energy saving measures

"Russian Grids", IDGC of Centre - a daughter company and the Government of the Yaroslavl region signed an agreement on economic incentives for energy saving and improving energy efficiency in the implementation at transmission of electricity. The document was signed by the head of the region Sergey Yastrebov and Director of the branch of IDGC of Centre Konstantin Kotikov in the presence of First Deputy General Director for Technical Policy of JSC "Russian Grids" Roman Berdnikov.

The agreement provides for cooperation between the parties on the issues of tariff regulation under the compensation to the grid organization of costs of implementing measures to reduce losses in the grids. According to the document IDGC of Centre until 2018 will install in 10 Distribution Zones of Yarenergo about 140 thousand points of smart automated electricity metering. Implementation of these measures will reduce by 2022 the level of losses in the grids as compared to the year of 2014 by 17.4% (from the baseline of 8.11% - down to 6.7%) and the resulting annual savings of 100 million kWh (about 200 million rubles) per year. In turn, the regulator through the Department of Energy and Tariff Regulation of the Yaroslavl region undertakes while calculating tariffs for electricity to consider and keep the resulting economic effect at the disposal of the grid organization so that the company will spend the savings on installation of smart metering systems.

The agreement was signed in the framework of the joint project of "Russian Grids" and the Russian Direct Investment Fund to promote "smart grids", aimed at the implementation of measures to reduce energy losses in a number of regions of the Russian Federation, primarily through the implementation of smart metering systems - a technology that has become widespread in the world.

Governor highly appreciated the performance of "Russian Grids" in improvement of energy efficiency of enterprises. "It is no coincidence that Yaroslavl has become the first in the project, the region was always the basis for innovation, which was then replicated in other regions," stressed the head of the region.

Reducing losses enables IDGC of Centre to cut the costs of buying electricity for their compensation. Given the fact that the rate of losses is taken into account when calculating tariffs for electricity transmission, it will eventually reduce its cost to consumers of the Yaroslavl region.
