IDGC of Centre expands the practice of implementation of the results of its own researches to attract non-tariff sources of funding for scientific research and experimental development projects (R&D). This is the company's patented steel multisided poles of power lines and pole-mounted transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV.

Steel multisided poles and pole-mounted transformer substations are designed with performance specifications and under the guidance of IDGC of Centre's specialists to meet modern requirements to technical policy and improve productivity during installation and maintenance. They are in demand by enterprises of the grid complex and interesting for producers, which gives the company, as the right holder, when placing orders for steel multisided poles and pole-mounted transformer substations, an opportunity to compensate for costs of their creation.

IDGC of Centre for this uses the adopted practice in the developed countries to enter into license agreements with manufacturers of specialized products. In 2015 IDGC of Centre entered into various licensing agreements: the production and sale steel multisided poles and pole-mounted transformer substations. All contracts are registered with Rospatent.

The steel multisided poles are one of the recent developments of IDGC of Centre, the company received the relevant patent in February 2014. Compared with conventional reinforced concrete and wooden poles, they are far more reliable and durable (the service life of steel poles is 50 years, reinforced concrete - 20-30 years), light, compact, and as a consequence - are less costly in construction and installation. Compliance with the requirements of modern aesthetics allows their use both in rural areas and in large cities. To date, about 160 poles have been installed.

Pole-mounted transformer substations of IDGC of Centre, in comparison with other existing on the market pole-mounted transformer substations, have a simple and reliable design, as well as reinforced insulation which completely covers all live parts. Application of pole-mounted transformer substations helps reduce injuries due to inaccessibility of the transformer substation itself and live parts, reduce the length of low voltage lines, thereby reducing transmission losses, improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers. In addition, experience shows that the construction of overhead lines with pole-mounted transformer substations significantly increases the grid transmission capacity and the possibility of grid connection of new customers in the expanding settlements. In 2015-2016 about 330 pole-mounted transformer substations were installed made under the patent from IDGC of Centre.

All these advantages make innovations of IDGC of Centre in demand from enterprises of the electric grid complex, so the company plans to expand the practice of the use of licensing agreements.

IDGC of Centre conducts regular work on the formation of additional non-tariff sources of financing, taking into account the current macroeconomic situation. Its purpose is to compensate the funds spent on development projects in the sphere of innovations. Such an approach enhances the effectiveness of the company in terms of R&D, creating additional opportunities for the development and implementation of cutting-edge innovations.
