MRSK Tsentra : In the Year of Ecology Smolenskenergo to install 889 bird protection devices on overhead power lines

In 2017, announced by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation as the Year of Ecology, IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division will pay special attention to ensuring the environmental safety of production activities.

In order to reduce the negative impact on the environment, IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division has approved the Environmental Policy Implementation Program. One of the directions of this is to ensure the safety of wildlife.

In accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation, overhead power lines from 6 kV and above must be equipped with special bird protection devices. To implement this requirement, in 2017 IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division will install 889 bird protection devices on insulators of overhead power lines of 6 kV and above, which is 78% more than last year. Work will be conducted in all districts of the Smolensk region. An equally important area for ensuring the safety of wildlife is the use of self-supporting insulated wires, they also allow to increase reliability and reduce the cutting area of ​​ROWs.
