Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continue to conduct electrical safety lessons at schools of the Kursk region. Regular events were held in Lezhensky and Vvedensky secondary schools of Timsky district, which were attended by 40 children aged from 7 to 15.

During the lessons the deputy chief of Timsky Distribution Zone for sale of services Dmitry Solodukhin and a master for operation of distribution grids Mikhail Pyanyikh told schoolchildren why it is dangerous to approach transformer substations and climb poles of power lines, roofs of houses or garages, where electrical wires pass.

The children were explained that the lightning sign means danger, one must not approach it. The lesson participants also learned what to do if an electric wire is broken, how to get out of an expected danger zone without any harm to health; they with interest learned the 'goose step', experienced in practice an instrument that determines the presence or absence of electricity in the mains, tried on real uniform of a power engineer - boots, helmets, gloves.

To consolidate the information received the children were given memos and posters with the rules on electrical safety.

Please, be reminded that the set of measures for the prevention of electric injuries to third parties has been implemented by Kurskenergo's structural units since 2008. In order to prevent accidents at grid facilities the power company does explanatory work with fishermen, hunters, as well as with representatives of motor transport and construction companies. Particular attention is paid to the most vulnerable categories - children who are at risk of electrocution due to the fact that they cannot independently assess the risk of electrocution.

By the end of the year the power company plans to conduct another 18 lessons on electrical safety in different districts of the Kursk region, about 1,000 children will take part in them.

'For us it is very important that Kurskenergo's experts take the time to talk to children, to explain what is the risk of electric current, to warn against careless handling of electrical appliances,' noted the director of Vvedensky secondary school Vera Burtseva. 'Usually we say, it is better not to experience the received information in practice, but maybe someday some elementary knowledge of the rules of electrical safety will be for someone decisive to maintain health and life.'
